Music Theory Research

Greg graduated with his doctorate from the City University of New York in the spring of 2024. Under advisor William N. Rothstein, his doctoral research focused on the relationship between music theory and performance, with an emphasis on Schenkerian analysis, rhythm and meter, and phrase-level form. Additionally, Greg has presented original research on improvisation in classical music (at the Performance Studies Network international conference in London) and on parsimonious voice leading in microtonal music (at the Society for Music Theory's national meeting).
